Everything we do

A list of names does not tell you which one is yours. This page starts from what is happening in your mouth and points at the treatment that answers it — and says plainly which ones have a page of their own and which ones are described right here.

Start with what is happening

Not with the name of a treatment. You are not supposed to know that yet.

  • A tooth is missing

An implant replaces the root and the tooth. A bridge closes the gap using the teeth beside it.

    Dental implantsCrowns and bridges

  • A tooth is broken, worn or heavily filled

It may need covering rather than another filling.

    Crowns and prosthetics

  • You do not like how the front teeth look

The front teeth treated as one piece of work, designed before anything is touched.

    Smile Make Over

  • The teeth are crooked or the bite is off

Moving the teeth themselves, rather than covering them: clear removable aligners, or brackets fixed to the teeth.

    Alignment and braces

  • It hurts, or something broke this week

Do not plan around a web page. Call and say what happened.

Everything we do, by category

Eight categories, in the clinic’s own order. Three of them have a page of their own.

General Dentistry

Root canals
When decay or a crack reaches the nerve inside a tooth, the nerve is removed and the space it leaves is sealed, so the tooth itself can stay.
Minimally invasive veneers
See the Smile Make Over page
Cleanings
Removing the hardened plaque that a toothbrush cannot reach, above and below the gum line.

Dental Surgery

Extractions
Taking a tooth out when it cannot be kept, which is also the first step when an implant is going to replace it.
Wisdom tooth extractions
The third molars, at the back of each side of the jaw. They are the last to come in, and sometimes they come in sideways or only part of the way.
Periodontal treatment
Treatment of the gum and the bone around the teeth, which are what hold them in place.

Alignment

Transparent aligners
A series of clear removable trays, each one slightly different from the last, that move the teeth a step at a time.

Teeth Braces

Metal brackets
Brackets fixed to the teeth and joined by a wire. The wire is what moves the teeth; the brackets are what it pulls against.
Clear brackets
The same fixed system, with the brackets in a tooth-coloured material instead of metal.
Retainers
Worn once the teeth have been moved. Teeth drift back towards where they came from, and the retainer is what holds the new position.

Prosthesis

Zirconium crown prosthesis
See the crowns and prosthetics page
Minimally invasive veneers (Smile Make Over)
See the Smile Make Over page
Complete rehabilitation
Rebuilding a whole arch, or both of them, as a single plan rather than one tooth at a time.

Implants

Full arch rehabilitation
See the dental implants page

Whitening

Teeth whitening
Lightening the colour of the natural tooth. It changes the tooth, not a crown or a veneer that is already on it.

Teeth Protection

Night guard
A guard worn while you sleep, for people who grind or clench and are wearing their own teeth down.
Deep cleaning
A cleaning that reaches under the gum line, where the pocket between gum and tooth has grown deeper than it should be.
Laser therapy

Getting here

The clinic is a two-minute walk from the bridge.

Park in one of the paid lots in Progreso Lakes, Texas, walk south over the Progreso–Las Flores International Bridge, and turn left as you come off it: the entrance to the plaza is right there. You never drive into Mexico, and your insurance never leaves Texas.
